Advice on how to get a six pack

I really wanted to know how to get a six pack? I was going through the motions but for over a year was not achieving the blessed heights of six pack abs. It is not a secret that I was finding it hard, but what I later discovered highlighted my lack of understanding about the way my bodyworks.

Yes it is all about education. I struggled because I was not educated enough about what I wanted to achieve.  As with all things, if you know what you are doing you can achieve your objective in less than half the time.

In the beginning my exercise regime was simply crunches morning, noon & night. And that was it, it wasn't working. That was what I thought you needed to do if you wanted to know how to get a six pack.  I was about to give up and admit that getting a six pack was something that just wasn't for me.  It was then that I took some great advice and have never looked back.

The first piece of advice was to understand how I should be achieve my goal, and that it was not through exercise!  This threw me a little, but when I understood it was perfect sense.  So what is a six pack, well they are abdominal muscles, and in order to see these muscles they need to be exercised....correct.  But, if you do not address the layer of fat that covers these muscles then you may never get to see you abs in full glory! 

Diet is the key.  You can not just throw any old food type into your body and expect abs.  If the food is too fatty then your body may not burn off all the energy from the food and may store it, in the form of fat.  Between you and I my fat deposits were in excess.  So I needed to lose them in order for my abs to shine through.  But how did I achieve this in the quickest way.  Well the key is your metabolism.  You have to make it work for you instead of against you.

If you have a high metabolism your body will convert more food into energy, rather than storing it as fat.  One way to increase your metabolism is to exercise.  This is key to understanding how to get a six pack.  Yes you can do crunches and all the abdominal workouts you can imagine.  These are highly important to build the muscle.  But in order to get a good cardio workout and increase your metabolism you can do the standard exercise such as running, swimming, rope jumps etc.  As long as your work out get the heart really pumping for a minimum of 30 minutes.  This 30 minutes is also important because after 20 the body will start to use up energy in the form of fat reserves.

But the other important factor I was neglecting was diet.  Did you know you can increase you metabolism through diet.  The secret is to eat smaller quantities of food but more frequently.  If you think about how your body reacts when it has just eaten a very large meal you can appreciate this piece of advice.  You get lethargic and tired.  With smaller amounts the body can process them faster,and if you want to know how to get a six pack then you must understand this.  So this was my problem, eating three square meals a day as I was always taught to.

But that is not the end of the story, by eating the correct type of foods your body can get extra help in reducing the fat layers.  Stop eating really fatty foods, instead concentrate on eating more vegetables and fruits, go for the healthy option instead of the quick and fatty snack(the unhealthy option).

When I took all this advice on board then I can tell you with pleasure that my abs soon came shinning through, I have discovered how to get a six pack.  It was all down to those simple pieces of advice.  As they say knowledge is power, the power to realize a six pack at last.
